Character 1, Gideon 'The Rogue Mechanic'. Acting as a lone rebel, and ever on the run from the law, Gideon is determined in his journey of tearing down the Avalon Corporation and its control over Lambent City. A happy-go-lucky mechanical prodigy with a fiery spirit, Gideon may be the only one who can bring the other characters together and save Lambent City as Paragons.
Being a rogue mechanic, its essential that the characters design conveys this. A decent amount of reference on mechanic clothing, such as jumpsuits, overalls and utility equipment have been researched for this. This makes for a personal challenge, as to make this an effective character design I need to make the rogue mechanic concept engaging. I've tried this by adding details to make the character look roughed up as if he has been moving around and going solo for quite some time. Bandages going up the arm and an oil rag tied around his left bicep give the impression that his arms have suffered overtime in action and from his mechanical workings. I also added a pair of welding goggles given double purpose as a hairband and for welding to add some extra flair. After some experimentation I decided on a rustic colour palette as my final choice, as this shows his boisterous attitude whilst being dirtied up enough to represent the serious side of the character.
