Step one of my project, as with any other project, was to generate a series of initial ideas based off the preliminary concept. I originally sketched some design ideas for 5 possible characters, basing each off a theme to use as influence for their characteristics, personality, outfits and the choice of weapons that they would use. I used this early stage to explore how these characters might play into a story with one other by pairing characters to the same theme as each other, for example having the mechanic and his apprentice, and the religious themed brother/sister duo. This Idea would be later scrapped in favour of creating a more engaging set of characters. I used this time in the process to create some mock-ups for how the project may look if used for the purpose of a game, utilising the sketches I already had for some demo narrative scenes and a mock up of game play, fitted with UI, stage background and character sprites.
